Cardiff City midfielder Cody Twose has joined Haverfordwest County on a loan deal. The 19-year-old academy product moves to the Cymru Premier side to gain senior experience, as reported by Y Clwb Pêl-droed this week.
Cardiff currently sit 13th in the Championship with three points from three draws, scoring and conceding five goals. They are six points behind league leaders Charlton Athletic. Their next challenge is an away fixture against fourth-placed Queens Park Rangers on September 2, a match detailed on our fixtures page.
Who is Cody Twose?
Cody Twose progressed through the Cardiff City academy, formally joining the club in July 2024. He made his first-team debut that August, appearing as a second-half substitute in a Carabao Cup tie against Southampton. His first senior start came over a year later in November 2025, featuring in a 3-1 Vertu Trophy victory over Arsenal Under-21s. At international level, Twose has represented Wales at youth levels, earning eight caps for the Under-19s and ten at Under-17 level. He captained the Under-19 side in a match against Czechia in February 2025.
His football background is deeply connected to Cardiff. His father, Geraint Twose, played in the Cymru Premier for Llanelli Town and Rhayader Town. More significantly, Geraint worked for 17 years within the Cardiff City academy, serving as Lead Development Coach for players aged 12 to 16 until 2013. He later worked with the English FA and was assistant coach to Sarina Wiegman for the England women's national team during their successful Euro 2022 campaign.
Why did Haverfordwest County make the signing?
Haverfordwest County manager Tony Pennock welcomed Twose as an "exciting prospect." Pennock stated that the player's versatility was a key factor in completing the loan move. The signing addresses a squad need, with midfielder Clayton Green ruled out for the next few months. Haverfordwest are struggling near the foot of the Cymru Premier table, sitting second from bottom after five matches. They have conceded 11 goals in those games. The club hosted Trefelin on Monday, August 31, aiming to improve their defensive record and league position.
What did Cody Twose say about the move?
Speaking after joining his new club, Cody Twose expressed his enthusiasm. "I’m excited to join the club," he said. "There’s good quality in the group." He also reflected on his journey at Cardiff, noting the significance of his first-team debut last year. "I’ve been here since I was young, so it’s a massive moment for me to celebrate," Twose remarked after that appearance.
How does this loan fit into Cardiff's season?
The loan allows a promising young player to compete for regular minutes in a senior environment while Cardiff focus on their Championship campaign. Twose's departure temporarily reduces options in the midfield department at Cardiff City. The club's current squad depth can be viewed on our squad page. With a goal difference of zero from their opening three league games, Cardiff will be looking to turn draws into wins, starting with their trip to face QPR. The team's overall statistics and league standing are available on our stats and standings pages. Cody Twose's loan to Haverfordwest County runs for the remainder of the 2026-27 season.
