Four repeat offenders have been handed criminal behaviour orders (CBOs) restricting where they can go after being convicted of offences ranging from shoplifting to criminal damage and indecent exposure in Cardiff. The latest orders, imposed by courts in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, target individuals with histories of offending that have affected businesses and local communities. The measures come amid continuing concerns about the impact of retail crime on town centres and shopworkers across south Wales. Among those made subject to new restrictions is Jay Slade, 49, of Barry, who was convicted of stealing alcohol from a convenience store in Broad Street. A two-year CBO prohibits him from entering parts of Barry and Penarth, including Broad Street, Holton Road, and Windsor Road, unless attending a medical or support appointment. Jake Royle, 23, also from Barry, was jailed for 26 weeks after admitting a series of thefts from shops and supermarkets in Barry, Penarth, and Culverhouse Cross. He was also made subject to a three-year order banning him from several retail locations, including supermarkets in Barry and Culverhouse Cross. Joshua Ruck, 32, of Rumney, received an eight-month prison sentence for shoplifting offences committed at stores in St Mellons, Llanrumney, and Pontprennau. His two-year order prevents him from entering the businesses he targeted. The measures come amid continuing concerns about the impact of retail crime on town centres and shopworkers across south Wales.
