Cardiff City will be without Dylan Lawlor and Rubin Colwill for their Championship fixture away to Middlesbrough on Saturday. The news comes as the 19th-placed side, with 10 points from 10 games, prepare for a key away match following their 5-1 win over Watford.

Lawlor is sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury during that victory last weekend. Colwill continues to recover from an ankle problem and will not be available. Manager Brian Barry-Murphy confirmed the absences.

"Rubin won't be available for Saturday, that's definite," Barry-Murphy said.

There is better news regarding striker Yousef Salech, who is making progress and could be involved. Barry-Murphy indicated the forward will be assessed before the trip to the Riverside Stadium.

"We'll assess Yousef and see how he is, but he's making really good progress," the manager added.

The situation for captain Calum Chambers remains more distant, with Barry-Murphy describing him as "quite a long way away from a return to play" despite some positive recent signs in his recovery.

Cardiff's recent form has been inconsistent, with two wins, a draw and two losses in their last five matches. Their next challenge is a Middlesbrough side they will face on 17 October.

The potential return of Salech offers a boost as Cardiff look to build on the momentum from their emphatic win and climb the table.
