Jack Moylan scored twice as Cardiff City secured a vital 5-1 victory over Watford on Tuesday night. The win, only their second of the Championship season, lifts Brian Barry-Murphy's side to 18th place and out of the relegation zone with 10 points from 10 games.

Moylan opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute after being brought down by Mattie Pollock. The Irish forward doubled his tally in the 35th minute, finishing a one-on-one chance against Watford goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia. Cardiff's ruthless first half continued with an own goal from Pollock and a strike from Ollie Tanner in added time, sending the hosts into the break 4-0 up.

Watford pulled a goal back through Hector Kyprianou late on, but substitute Callum Robinson completed the scoring for Cardiff in the 85th minute. The result leaves Watford in 22nd place after their fourth consecutive defeat.

"I’m just happy to help the team win and keep pushing forward," said Moylan, whose two goals take his season tally to five. Teammate Chris Willock, who saw a second-half penalty saved, added: "We knew we had to stay strong and take our chances when they came."

The performance provides a significant boost ahead of a tough trip to face second-placed Middlesbrough this weekend. Moylan's contribution was decisive, with the forward also providing an assist in the previous match against Blackburn.

Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy confirmed Moylan was deployed as a makeshift centre-forward. "He was picked to play as striker," Barry-Murphy said. The 5-1 win moved Cardiff to 19th place with 10 points from 10 games. Nathan Trott made a key early save to deny Myron Boadu.
