Cambrian United have signed former Cardiff City academy defender Josh Beecher and former Wales youth international Jack Karadogan ahead of the new Cymru Premier campaign. The 20-year-old Beecher joined after a loan spell at Barry Town United, while 22-year-old Karadogan brings experience from Yate Town, Pontypridd United, Newport County and the Turkish second tier.
Cambrian United bolster squad
The Cymru Premier transfer window is entering its final stages, with clubs having just one full week before the deadline on Tuesday, September 1. In the last days of the window, Cambrian United have strengthened their squad with two new signings. The club announced the arrivals of Josh Beecher and Jack Karadogan, both of whom have spent time in the English lower leagues and at youth international level.
Josh Beecher: a Cardiff City product
Beecher is 20 years old and a former Cardiff City academy defender. He progressed through the Bluebirds’ youth system alongside players such as Dylan Lawlor, Joel Colwill and Cian Ashford. Beecher gained his first taste of senior football during the 2024/25 campaign when he spent time on loan with Barry Town United. After leaving the Championship club, he has now joined Cambrian United for the upcoming Cymru Premier season.
Jack Karadogan: a seasoned midfielder
Karadogan is 22 and a former Wales youth international. He arrived at Cambrian United after a spell with Yate Town, having previously played for Pontypridd United and Newport County. Karadogan has also experienced football overseas, featuring in the Turkish second tier. He represented Wales at Under-18 level and was part of a generation that included current senior internationals Jordan James, Cian Ashford and Cameron Congreve. His experience will add depth to Cambrian’s midfield as the club prepares for the new campaign.
Context of the transfer window
Other Cymru Premier sides have also been active in the final days of the window. Airbus UK Broughton signed 19-year-old midfielder Oli Calland, released by Huddersfield Town. Caernarfon Town added 18-year-old winger Simba Nyamwanza from Shrewsbury Town, while Darren Thomas departed Caernarfon for Porthmadog. Colwyn Bay secured a six-month loan for Josh Williams from Tranmere Rovers. These moves illustrate the urgency of clubs to finalise their squads before the September 1 deadline.
Cambrian United’s signings of Beecher and Karadogan reflect a strategy of blending youth academy graduates with experienced players who have competed in both English and international contexts. The club will look to build on its previous season’s performances and aim for a strong showing in the Cymru Premier.
