Cardiff City midfielder Alex Robertson has pulled out of the Australian national team for their forthcoming match against Brazil. The player, who is 23, will stay at the club's training facility during the international window for treatment.

Robertson's situation is among a number of fitness issues for Cardiff. Dylan Lawlor recently made his first appearance of the campaign as a substitute in a victory over Charlton Athletic. Defender Will Fish is expected to resume training soon.

Calum Chambers is still managing a knee issue and has not played this term. Issak Davies and Rubin Colwill are also continuing their rehabilitation work. These absences are offset by several first-team players being away with their national teams, such as Joel Colwill and Cian Ashford with Wales.

Manager's view

Cardiff boss Brian Barry-Murphy stated the pause in fixtures offers an important chance for certain individuals. "This break will be very beneficial for us, we'll train a lot and improve a lot, particularly with a focus Dylan and Will Fish," he told reporters.

Joel Bagan was selected for the Republic of Ireland group but withdrew because of an injury. Striker Jack Moylan, who netted two goals in the win against Charlton and is the team's top scorer this season, earned his first senior cap for Ireland earlier this year. Young player Ronan Kpakio is likely to play for the Wales Under-21 side, and teenager Noah Anyadike is one of several Cardiff youth players in that group.

The team plans to evaluate its entire roster over the coming two weeks before the league resumes. Cardiff's following match is against Blackburn Rovers. Supporters can view the complete schedule on the club's fixtures page and see the present squad list.
